MJ Ryan, MA

MJ Ryan brings her deep experience as a national expert in change, stress management and balance, and sleep to ConnectWell. Her work is based on a combination of positive psychology, strengths-based coaching, and cutting edge brain research.
MJ has made a positive impact on the lives of many people through her numerous books, TV and radio programs, articles on her work, her coaching practice and speaking engagements. She is a prolific author of many acclaimed books on positive emotions and change, including New York Times bestsellers. Her titles include the Random Acts of Kindness series, This Year I Will… How to Finally Change a Habit, Keep a Resolution or Make a Dream Come True, The Happiness Makeover, Attitudes of Gratitude, The Power of Patience, Trusting Yourself, The Giving Heart, and 365 Health and Happiness Boosters.
She has appeared on “The Today Show,” CNN, and hundreds of radio programs. Articles on her work have appeared in over 1000 newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Christian Science Monitor, Family Circle, Ladies Home Journal, Town and Country, Shape, Fitness, Cosmopolitan and Yoga Journal.
She specializes in coaching high-performance individuals and leadership teams around the world. Her clients include Royal Dutch Shell, Microsoft, Chevron, Frito Lay, Cisco, Yahoo, Hewitt Associates, and Bolthouse Farms. MJ has given over 100 keynote speeches and workshops throughout the country, including The National Speaking of Women’s Health Conference in Cincinnati, Robert Redford’s Sundance resort in Utah, and the Alliance for the New Humanity with Deepak Chopra.
MJ lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and teenage daughter. A confirmed pessimist and worrier when young, she has worked on cultivating greater happiness, patience, gratitude, calmness and well-being for the past 20 years through a variety of emotional and spiritual practices and studies brain science as a hobby.
MJ received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Cornell University, with honors and a Master’s in Literature from Mills College and is a certified trainer.
